Scheer Insurance Group serves Clarence, Lowden, Stanwood, Mechanicsville, Tipton, Bennett, Olin, Oxford Junction, and greater Cedar County, Iowa. We are a fully independent agency who welcomes each customer as family, providing individual attention to cover your home in town or in the country.
Don’t be shy – we will cover homes in all of Iowa. While focusing on Cedar County, we also serve Clinton, Jackson, Johnson, Jones, Linn, Muscatine, Scott, and even as far as Polk and Dallas Counties. Joan Scheer
Owner, Licensed Agent
Joan is a Fairfax, Iowa native. She met her husband Chris while they both worked for Penick and Ford in Cedar Rapids. Chris currently raises grain and hogs on the century farm where they raised their five children, all North Cedar Graduates. Joan returned to the workforce in 2006 and obtained her life and health insurance license in 2007 while managing the office and working with her father at his Agency, Ockenfels and Associates in Cedar Rapids. In 2013 Joan joined Robert Niermeyer of Niermeyer Insurance Services Ltd and Niermeyer Maurer Insurance. Here she obtained her property and casualty license working from 2013 to 2022 when she purchased the agency. Spare time is spent with their large extended family.
Elizabeth Scheer
Licensed Agent
Elizabeth Graduated from North Cedar High School in 2016 where she participated in a variety of activities including cheerleading, drama, music and art. While in high school she joined the Iowa Army National Guard where she served for seven years as a Water Purification Specialist. While serving, she also went to Kirkwood Community College obtaining her Associates Degrees in both arts and sciences. She continued her education at the University of Northern Iowa where she completed her bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. After graduation, she moved back home to Cedar County and obtained her property and casualty insurance license to join her Mom with the family business. When she is not working, she enjoys visiting her family, hanging out with friends, reading, and painting.
Sara Hennings
Office Admin
Sara is a lifelong resident of Cedar County. She spent her childhood in Clarence, and attended North Cedar High School. After graduation she attended Kirkwood Community College and Mount Mercy College. She then moved to rural Bennet for several years, during which she focused on raising her children, and working on the farm. In 2014, she joined the staff at at Niermeyer-Maurer Insurance. Sara serves as our Office Manager, here to greet you on the phone or in person. Her interests include, crochet and seamstress work, as well as baking and meteorology.
